1. December 28th we went in to the building to let in the cleaners. That's when water was discovered where it shouldn't be. The upstairs ladies toilet flooded the bathroom, out in to the hall and to the side room. The water also ran down through the hole where the radiator pipe came up from. Three rooms downstairs, the hallway and out in to the main dining area was full of water.
2. Roto Rooter came in to stop the flow, look for the problem. B&G came in to help. And ReelTek came in with the cameras. Two clogs were discovered and cleared. Debris from the roof top came in from the vent. The water that flooded was (theory) from the snow melt.
3. Lead (but no asbestos!) Was found and ServPro began on the clean up. They brought in the moisture suckers. They've pulled the lead paint off the walls downstairs and lead baseboards from upstairs. Still working on the walls behind the paint downstairs.
4. We received the amazing $100,000 donation and that covered almost all of the abatement. That amount was turned over to servpro for their work.
5. We are still looking at over $200,000 to get this building put back together after the abatement. Insurance will cover none of it since the roof vent technically connects to a drain. And insurance states "sewer, drain or sump".
6. That amazing Donor pledged to match up to another $100,000 if we can raise that much. It's going to come along a little at a time unless we can find some major donors to get us there quickly.
